Theme 3

Deciphering plant-soil microbiome interactions of wheat under nitrogen-limited conditions
Driven by a passion for sustainable agriculture, Rex explores the powerful interactions between plants and soil microbiomes. His research specifically targets how wheat plants can overcome low nitrogen stress with the help of beneficial microorganisms. By applying his expertise in bioinformatics, genomics, and metabolomics, he works to unlock new information that can be used to create next-generation bio-fertilizers. Rex’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Biomedical Science from Monash University and a Master of Bioinformatics from the University of Melbourne, and he is keen to continue applying his computational and statistical skills to advance our understanding of soil molecular biology.
