Dr. Claire Lewis

Dr. Claire Lewis is a Research Fellow working with Prof. Bill Malcolm and Theme 5. Claire is investigating the social net benefits of both conventional N fertilisers and enhanced efficiency N fertilisers for a range of agricultural and horticultural crops. The aim of her research is to support the decision making of primary producers, firms in the fertilizer industry, and policymakers on the commercial potential of enhanced efficiency fertiliser products.
Claire has over fourteen years’ research experience in economic analysis of Australian agricultural systems. Her career has spanned roles in scientific research, agricultural consulting, and work in the agribusiness value chain, and has included extensive collaboration with primary producers, researchers and farm input suppliers.
Claire has published her research in international scientific journals and presented her findings at national and international conferences, as well as at industry events and workshops. Claire has a PhD and Master of Agriculture (Research) in farm systems economics from the University of Melbourne, as well as a Bachelor of Agricultural Science.
