Rumesh Kombuge

Technical Officer - Theme 3

Rumesh Kombuge is a Chemical and Process Engineer with a Master of Environmental Engineering and experience in environmental research, analytical laboratory operations, and wastewater treatment. He currently works as a Technical Officer within Theme 3 of the ARC Research Hub for Smart Fertilisers at the University of Melbourne, supporting laboratory, field, and analytical research activities related to soil health, nutrient cycling, and sustainable agricultural systems.

In his role, Rumesh supports soil and environmental analysis through experimental work, data collection, and technical support activities. He is involved in instrumentation setup, calibration, and maintenance, and contributes to a range of research and field-based projects. He also provides technical support and training to researchers and postgraduate students, ensuring the safe and effective use of analytical and field-based equipment.

Rumesh is passionate about sustainable environmental management and applied agricultural research, with particular interests in nutrient cycling, greenhouse gas emissions, wastewater treatment, and environmental monitoring.
