Fertilisers with engineered coatings (Theme 1)

We will develop a new class of fertiliser with engineered coatings to enable controlled release of nutrients and inhibitors in a range of soil types, climatic conditions and diverse agricultural settings and land uses. Focus will be placed upon the provision of low-cost, efficient, highly flexible and environmentally responsible methods by which to coat and provide targeted nutrient release patterns to the soil environment.  The work builds on previous research to address the high hydrophilicity and large particle size of urea beads typically used in agricultural practices.
